Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet the minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise, and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

 

General Requirements

  1. The article is written in English.
  2. The length of the submitted paper is at least 4000 words and a maximum of 8000 words. Editors will evaluate if the paper needs more pages than 8000 words before distributing it to reviewers.
  3. Use tools such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote for reference management and formatting. The citation and references must be written based on APA 7th Edition (American Psychological Association)
  4. Make sure that your article is formatted based on the JELT Manuscript Template.

 

Aim and Scope

Articles published in the Journal of English Language Teaching encompass a broad range of research or papers related to teaching English. Some of the topics covered in JELT include:

  1. Curriculum design and development
  2. English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  3. English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
  4. English language and literary studies
  5. English language testing and assessment
  6. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in ELT
  7. Innovations in language teaching and learning
  8. Interculturally-based English teaching and learning
  9. Language Planning and Language Policy
  10. Second language acquisition (SLA)
  11. Teacher Training and Professional Development
  12. Teaching English as a second or foreign language
  13. Technology-assisted language learning (CALL)
  14. Translation studies

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Register for the journal. Fill in the form with your details. 
  • Please fill in your first and last name. If you only have one name, repeat it or use it as your last name, too.
  • Affiliation: Mention your university/institution.
  • Read the author guidelines again before submitting your article.
  • Please download the template and paste your article there. Make sure the template is not changed.
  • Save your manuscript in Ms. Word file/document.
  • Make sure: 
    1. This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
    2. All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
    3. All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
    4. Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
  • When your manuscript is ready, begin your submission by clicking New Submission.
  • Add Author to insert your co-author's data, more than a single author is preferred.

 

Structure of The Manuscript

The manuscript must be prepared according to the following structure:

  1. Title. The title of the paper should describe research aims, method/model, and objective, without an acronym or abbreviation.
  2. Abstract. The Abstract has 200 to 350 WORDSno citation; please state the primary objective(s)research designmethodologymain outcomes, results, and the conclusions.
  3. Section structure. Authors are suggested to present their articles according to the following sections: Introduction - Method - Results and Discussion – Conclusion
  4. References. A minimum of 30 references from reputable journal articles or books is expected.
